The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has condemned the statement made by the Assistant Manager of H.A.Dhidhdhoo Fenaka branch, saying that electricity should be given only to the homes of PNC people, speaking at a campaign meeting held in Dhidhdhoo on Sunday evening.

In a video posted on social media, Fenaka Branch Assistant Manager Abdullah Rasheed can be clearly heard saying that electricity should be supplied only to party members until the end of the election.

In response, the party said in a statement that the remarks were not the policy of President Mohammed Muizzu or PNC.

“President Muizzu's policy is to provide services to the people regardless of political ideology,” the PNC said.

When questioned by a journalist in the PNC media group whether any action would be taken against Abdullah Rasheed, party spokesperson Heena Waleed said, "We will take the necessary action”.

At a rally in F.Nilandhoo, President Muizzu had adamantly said that he wants to serve all the people equally regardless of political ideology.

The President’s statement in Nilandhoo was in response to another such remark made by a PNC and government official. At a campaign meeting of the PNC candidate from Lh.Hinnavaru constituency, a video where Ahmed Shareef Abdul-Rahman Yusuf demands for 'control' of government employees, especially those working at the Felivaru factory, and action against them if they failed to cooperate had gone viral on social media. The party continues to deny these quotes are representative of their ideology and assures that there will be no such nepotism from the state.
