China firm awarded to build warehouse complex in Hulhumale

The warehouse complex is being developed on land in front of the water theme park.

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Wednesday awarded a Chinese company the contract to build a state of the art warehouse complex in the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale.

Rotime Engineering and Technology Co. Ltd., registered in Hong Kong, was awarded the contract to build the automated warehouse management system.

Rotime Engineering is already doing some work in Maldives. The company also built the swimming pool in Hulhumale. The company is also building the tennis courts adjacent to the swimming pool.

The warehouse complex:

  • Includes different units to store different types of goods

  • There are refrigerated goods, industrial warehousing units and food and consumable storage units

  • There will also be a building with office space and showroom

  • The company was given two years to complete the project

HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed signed the construction agreement on behalf of the company at a ceremony held at HDC on Wednesday. Rotime Managing Director Zhou Weidong signed on behalf of Rotime.

At the signing ceremony, Fazul said:

  • The building will be a revolutionary change in the business sector

  • It will boost local businesses

The warehouse is being built on land in front of the water theme park.

The HDC said the complex will be designed to store a variety of goods. The additional storage space will help small and medium enterprises expand their businesses, HDC said.
