A senior employee of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been suspended following allegations related to land allocation in Hulhumale and Thilafushi.
The employee, a senior official in the business development and sales department, is accused of using influence to allocate land unlawfully and attempting to conceal evidence afterwards.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has also opened an investigation into the matter. HDC has not issued an official comment regarding the suspension.
In April, an HDC employee was charged with extorting MVR 500,000 from a man in exchange for selling a plot of land in Hulhumale.
Corruption-related cases have previously surfaced in connection with the Binveriyaa housing scheme, leading to the suspension of several HDC employees.
