The minor, who arrived in Male on Wednesday evening on the stolen resort boat docked at a Meemu atoll island, has been found.
Atoll Times learned that the child was found by the police on the street.
The boy, who stole the speedboat from the island dock, arrived in the capital city at around 9 am on Wednesday. His girlfriend also disappeared from her home when he arrived, who claimed to be rescuing her from abuse.
They were both found together in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
The boy left the island in a Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives speedboat. He made sure to take his ID card with him, along with his mother's phone and some clothes in a bag. The islanders say that he knows how to drive a boat as his father used to do it.
The boy drove the speedboat from the Meemu Atoll island to the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale.
However, on Wednesday morning as he left, fishermen at the island dock saw the speedboat taking off in a dangerous manner, they said.
