President Mohammed Muizzu has dissolved the presidential Commission on Deaths and Disappearances set up by former president Ibrahim Mohammed Solih.
The commission was dissolved by a special declaration signed and issued by President Muizzu on Sunday evening.
The declaration states that the commission has "completed the work assigned to it".
Some civil society organisations have called for the commission's findings to be made public as President Muizzu had decided to abolish the death commission at the end of May.
The Death Commission's biggest cases include the disappearance of journalist Rilwan Abdullah and the murder of blogger Yameen Rasheed. Contrary to what the President said, the families have not received justice in the two cases. Therefore, the two families are expressing concern.
