The young soldier who died in a shark attack during a military training at sea was laid to rest on Monday in his native island, Ungoofaaru, in Raa Atoll.
The soldier that was attacked by the shark is Lance Corporal Mohamed Zaidhan, NewLife/R.Ungoofaaru. It was during the training conducted by MNDF L.Kaddhoo Training Center in the sea near L.Maavah.
Zaidhan was rushed to the Gamu Regional Hospital in Laamu atoll for treatment. He died at 8:40 pm on Sunday while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The body of Zaidhan, 23, was taken to Ungoofaaru in an MNDF vessel. His funeral was held after the Asr prayers on Monday.
Several MNDF officers have also travelled to Ungoofaaru to attend the funeral.
