Private hospital Abdul-Rahman Dhon Kaleyfaanu (ADK) Hospital, has asked the People’s Majlis for help in recovering over MVR 100 million worth of bills sent to both the Aasandha company and the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).
The Finance Committee held a meeting on Monday to hear a letter sent by ADK to the Finance Committee on November 6 last year. In the letter, the ADK hospital asked for a solution to the problem of non-payment of bills sent to Aasandha and NSPA.
In the letter to the committee, ADK said that as of the date of sending the letter, the hospital has not received a total of MVR 144.3 million for its bills to Aasandha and NSPA. Thus:
-
MVR 78.5 million is due more than 90 days after billing
-
The letter states that the money has been requested several times but has not been received
Members who expressed their views on the matter on Monday expressed concern that the previous government had made it a habit of not paying companies after obtaining services.
Baarah MP Ibrahim Shujau said:
-
Government non-payment of private companies is a very serious problem; it has impoverished private companies
-
It is unacceptable that the MDP is impoverishing the people every time it comes to power
“We have to clarify the disruptions caused by the lack of money and whether this government has paid any of it,” he said, noting that months have passed since the letter was sent.
The committee decided to send a letter to ADK to clarify the details of money not received and their current situation. The committee also decided to clarify information regarding the letter from Finance ministry, Aasandha and NSPA.
