India-funded Hanimaadhoo airport completion by March, ministry says
The Hanimaadhoo airport is being constructed by India's Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL).

Sixty-seven percent of the Haa Dhaalu atoll Hanimaadhoo airport is completed and the project is expected to be completed fully by March 2025, the Construction and Infrastructure Ministry said on Wednesday.
Construction and Infrastructure Minister Dr Abdullah Muthalib, Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Ameen and Indian Ambassador to Maldives Munu Mahawar went to Hanimaadhoo on Wednesday to visit the airport being developed under the credit line of Indian Exim Bank.
The ministry said in a statement on Wednesday about the airport project:

67.5% of the total work of the project has been completed

97% of the 2,400-metre runway and apron is expected to be completed by November this year

51.4% of the passenger terminal building is complete and finishing work is underway along with the structural work

75% of the air traffic control tower is complete and finishing work is underway

44.5% of fuel farm and jetty work completed; the foundation work of the tanks is completed, and the tank planning work is underway

Most of the other buildings will be completed and handed over in November

50% of the roads required for the airport have been completed

5% of the MNDF building to be used with the airport is completed

The entire project is expected to be completed in March next year
The Hanimaadhoo airport is being constructed by Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL), one of the largest Engineering and Construction companies in India

The project, which is funded by a loan from Exim Bank of India, was launched in January last year

The project will develop a 2,460-metre runway and a terminal capable of serving 1.3 million tourists annually

Once the project is completed, Hanimaadhoo Airport will accommodate Airbus A320 and Boeing737 aircrafts
