The second phase of road construction in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo has been completed with 6.5 km of asphalt paving.

The Road Development Corporation (RDC) started the second project of the Thinadhoo road development in May 2021. Since then, the paving of many roads in the island was completed by July last year.

The RDC said on Thursday that under the second project, 6.5 km of asphalt has been laid and many other works have been carried out. They include:

  • Develop roads to modern standards and bring a permanent solution to the problem of flooding

  • Installation of street lights

With the completion of the second phase, the roads of Thinadhoo are now undergoing modern changes. In addition to paving the previously dilapidated roads, speed breakers and road traffic signs have been installed.

Under the second phase, 14 roads in Thinadhoo were developed. The project is worth more than MVR 78 million.
