Traffic changes as Boduthakurufaanu Magu works commence
The works, carried out under Segments 2 to 5 of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu Redevelopment Project, will cover the stretch from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal.
Construction work on Boduthakurufaanu Magu along the northern waterfront of Malé is scheduled to begin on Monday, with authorities implementing traffic flow changes and parking restrictions in the affected areas.
The works, carried out under Segments 2 to 5 of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu Redevelopment Project, will cover the stretch from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to Izzudheen Jetty.
The Maldives Police Service has announced a series of road closures and diversions during the construction period. The section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu from Barcelo Nasandhura to the junction of Chaandhanee Magu will be closed to general traffic. Changes to traffic flow were implemented last night, and access to the area is currently limited to public transport.
Authorities also stated that sections of the harbour will be closed to facilitate the works. The harbour area from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to Fishermen’s Park will remain closed from today until the completion of the project.
In addition, the area from Fishermen’s Park to Jetty No. 5 will be closed from the 30th of this month until the end of construction. The section from Jetty No. 5 to Izzudheen Jetty is scheduled to close from the 17th of next month until the project is completed.
The redevelopment and expansion of Boduthakurufaanu Magu commenced in August last year. The project was awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) with a completion period of 455 days. The total project cost is MVR 144 million.
