15 parking buildings, more zones in Hulhumale

Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed said the government has decided to set up specific areas for rented vehicle parking in Hulhumale.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Fazal said that such areas will be reserved only in the interiors of the road and such areas will also be designated as visitors' parking.

HDC MD said that parking spaces will be provided on a paid and non-paid basis.

In addition, about 15 parking buildings will be constructed as part of the Hulhumale development plan, he said.

“This is about 4,000 parking slots,” Fazul said.

He said these spaces will be accompanied by permanent parking spaces for vehicles such as cars. The project, which will start within the next three months, will provide parking space on a commercial basis, he said.

The government has launched efforts to solve the problem of irregular parking and congestion on the roads.

Meanwhile, the Male City Council has decided to draw red lines to prevent parking on street corners.
