HDC to auction space in Hulhumale for heavy vehicle parking

HDC on Tuesday announced plan to auction off spots from Hulhumale for heavy vehicle parking.
HDC said that as part of the joint efforts of the company and the government to address the parking problem in the Male area, it has decided to allot spots on an auction basis for parking heavy vehicles.
Nineteen spots will be allotted for parking heavy vehicles carrying goods in the heavy vehicle parking zone set up in Hulhumale.
Those who want to rent out their space on a bidding basis will be able to do so from this Tuesday.
Only 100% of Maldivian businesses can be parked in the name of heavy vehicles registered to ply in the Male area.
HDC said the lease is being given to the heavy vehicle parking zone near Hulhumale MPL area. The rented parking spaces include:

Three spots for 40-foot trailers

Two spots for 20-foot trailers

10 reserved spaces for vehicles like dumptrucks or lorries

Four spaces for cranes

HDC said the spots will be leased out on the basis of the order of the highest bidders

The starting price of the auction is MVR 12.01 per sqft per month

The spots will be leased out for a period of two years

These spots will be leased only for parking of heavy cargo vehicles
According to HDC, the company has been working hard to address parking issues.
In April last year, paid parking zones had allotted 70 cars to be parked in two zones on an auction basis, and as part of efforts to address the current parking problems faced by residents of Hulhumale and those visiting the city for various purposes, Damas company was awarded the contract to build a parking building in Hulhumale in March last year, according to HDC.
