The decision comes after the term of the incumbent, Asma Shafiu, expired last month.
Two candidates were nominated for the position, including Asma.
However, parliament confirmed Ameeza, who was the preferred choice of President Mohamed Muizzu. The parliament voted unanimously to approve Ameeza, with 64 members present and voting in favor.
Under the Administrative Taxation Act, the Board of Directors of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) is composed of seven members, including the Tax Commissioner and the Deputy Tax Commissioner. Each member serves a five-year term.
