MIFCO finance chief Ilyas quits

Ilyas had been managing MIFCO’s operations since issues involving former CEO Ahmed Samah Rasheed surfaced last year.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), Ilyas Haneef, has resigned from his position.

A MIFCO media officer confirmed the resignation on Sunday and stated that Ilyas stepped down late last month for personal reasons.

Ilyas had been managing MIFCO’s operations since issues involving former CEO Ahmed Samah Rasheed surfaced last year.

Following the resignation, Dr Vitaly Lubimov has been appointed as the new CEO of MIFCO. Lubimov, originally from Ukraine and based in Switzerland, has 20 years of experience in crisis management.

Additionally, MIFCO Chairman Ahmed Shareef was appointed as Chairman of the Maldives Fisheries and Ocean Resources Marketing and Promotion Corporation (MFOMC) on December 30.
