Dr Vitaliy Lyubimov, the first foreign CEO of the state-owned Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), has been removed from his position.

The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) announced on X that Lyubimov’s tenure as CEO ended on Monday. He was appointed to the role on 9 December and served for nearly three months.

The reason for his removal has not been disclosed.

Lyubimov, a Ukrainian national, has 20 years of experience in crisis management. His LinkedIn profile states that he holds a PhD in economics and public administration.

Following the change in government, Ahmed Shamah Rasheed was appointed as CEO and Managing Director of MIFCO. He was dismissed in May after an investigation into allegations of corruption. Since then, the roles of MD and CEO had remained vacant before Lyubimov's appointment.
