The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has launched an investigation into the unauthorised disclosure of major decisions by its employees.
A reliable source confirmed to Atoll Times that following MMA’s recent decision to purchase land in Hulhumale for MVR 14 billion, access to internal systems for several employees was restricted. An official stated that this action was taken to identify those responsible for the information leak. The MMA’s IT department and the police are involved in the investigation.
MMA has not issued a statement regarding the land purchase or the investigation.
Sources indicate that the MMA board was divided over the decision. In connection with these developments:

Shuhad Ibrahim, the representative from the Ministry of Economic Development, has resigned from the board.
