Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Thursday allowed businesses to operate on the first floor of private buildings in Hulhumale.
Earlier, only the ground floor of private buildings could be use for commercial purpose. However, both ground and first floor were allowed for commercial use from mixed-use residential towers built by companies.
HDC said it will allow businesses on the first floors of private buildings:
-
Shop
-
Restaurant
-
Other services
However, the company said that the ground and first floors of buildings in Hulhumale are prohibited from being used for any industrial purpose like garages and warehouses.
According to HDC, the decision was made on the request of economic ministry. According to the company, the decision will provide more convenience to small and medium enterprises and boost business activity in the satellite town.
