HDC invites bids for 3 mid-range hotels in Hulhumale
The 103,421-sqm land for the Urban Isle project is located at the northernmost end of the second phase of Hulhumale.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Thursday invited bids to develop and operate three mid-range hotels in the Urban Isle section in Phase 2 of Hulhumale.
The HDC, which oversees Hulhumale, said in an announcement that the bid is open to those interested in developing and operating a medium-sized or mid-scale hotel on three plots in Urban Isle.
The announcement said that those interested in developing and operating the hotels can also submit their business models and priority will be given to the models that will benefit the HDC and the developer.
If more than one bidder is interested, the work will be awarded to the bidder who submits the plan in line with HDC's corporate vision, strategic objectives and masterplan.
The hotels should be accessible to people with special needs, according to the development guidelines issued by the HDC.
There should be dedicated areas for vehicle parking and bicycle parking.
The HDC has already opened the opportunity to express interest in developing guesthouses and three boutique hotels in Urban Isle.
The 103,421-sqm land for the Urban Isle project is located at the northernmost end of the second phase of Hulhumale, opposite Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort.
The HDC has previously said that the connection between Hulhumale and Maldives' main economic hub of Male and Velana International Airport will advance tourism. According to the HDC:
-
Urban Isle covers an area of 23 hectares and will have a variety of accommodation facilities for tourists
-
In addition to leisure tourists, there are also accommodations for short-term or transit tourists, business tourists, and long-term stayers such as digital nomads
