Mauroof Jameel, Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), has decided to retire from his post.

Mauroof, who played a key role in the formation of HDC, was reappointed as Managing Director in December last year. He has officially informed the company’s employees of his intention to step down.

According to sources, Mauroof is retiring from HDC to take up a position that offers more flexibility in his professional responsibilities.

Prior to the formation of HDC, Mauroof served as the Director General of the Hulhumalé Development Unit under the government of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. He later held the post of Minister of Construction and Public Infrastructure during the same administration. In addition to his tenure at HDC, he has also held senior roles at the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC).

Mauroof is involved in work related to architectural heritage.

He was appointed Managing Director of HDC following the resignation of his predecessor, Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, who stepped down amid allegations of corruption linked to the allocation of land plots and housing units in Hulhumalé.
