China signs MVR 1.3 billion aid agreement with Maldives
The agreement includes construction of a 100-bed hospital in Villimalé, to be known as the China–Maldives Friendship Hospital.

China has signed a financial assistance agreement valued at MVR 1.3 billion with the Maldives to support the implementation of three government projects.
The agreement was signed on Thursday morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel signed on behalf of the Maldivian government, while Ambassador Kong Xianhua signed on behalf of China.
According to the agreement, the funds will be used to implement the following projects:

Construction of a 100-bed hospital in Villimalé, to be known as the China–Maldives Friendship Hospital

Road construction projects in Malé and Villimalé

Construction of 50 island council office buildings
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Khaleel expressed appreciation to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Chinese government and the people of China. He said the Maldives remains committed to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Kong Xianhua said China will continue to provide support and cooperation for development initiatives in the Maldives.
