Maldives main airport sees record 856 flight movements

Velana International Airport (VIA) witnessed the highest number of flight movements on record on Saturday, according to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
MACL said Wednesday that 856 air traffic movements were recorded on Saturday, including:

102 international flight movements

114 domestic movements
-
35 movements of general aviation

605 seaplane movements
There has been an increase in the number of tourists arriving in the Maldives during the New Year and European winter season. In addition to new airlines, there has been an increase in the number of flights to the Maldives during the season.
According tourism ministry data, 33 airlines operate schedules international flights to the Maldives.
In addition, the world's rich come to the Maldives on their private jets for vacation.
