5-year record tourist arrivals in February 2023

Last month alone, Russia topped the list of countries with the highest number of tourist arrivals. Russia is followed by India, the UK, Italy and Germany.

Compared to the last five years, the highest number of tourist arrivals in the month of February was recorded last month, according to immigration data.

A total of 177,915 tourists arrived in the Maldives last month alone, according to immigration data released on Monday.

  • Average number of tourist arrivals per day - 6,354

  • Highest number of tourist arrivals per day - 8,029

  • Lowest number of tourist arrivals per day – 5,318

According to tourism ministry data, this is higher than February months of previous five years. Thus:

  • February 2018 - 144,286

  • February 2019 - 168,583

  • February 2020 - 149,785

  • February 2021 - 96,882

  • February 2022 - 149,011

  • February 2023 - 177,915

Russia remains top market

Last month alone, Russia topped the list of countries with the highest number of tourist arrivals. Russia is followed by India, the UK, Italy and Germany.

The list remains the same when it comes to the total number of tourist arrivals this year as of Sunday.

Here are the top five countries that brought in the highest number of tourists to Maldives this year:

  • Russia - 47,983

  • India - 41,054

  • UK - 35,049

  • Italy - 34,000

  • Germany - 24,438

The total number of tourist arrivals this year stood at 3,75,283 at the end of last week.
