MTCC is bringing in another dredger to continue its dredging projects as their dredger Mahajarraf is currently damaged, the company said on Monday.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced on Sunday, speaking at his presidential campaign in Shaviyani atoll, that a new dredger will be brought to the Maldives for land reclamation projects and that Sh. Komandoo and Mathikomandoo island, which is located within the same lagoon, will be connected by the end of this month.
When asked about it, MTCC CEO Adam Azim said on Monday that the decision to bring in a new dredger was taken because the dynamo of the company’s main dredger, the Mahajarraf, was broken. The shipbuilding company is working on the dredger's dynamo, he said.
Azim said they were working with a Belgian company to bring in a new vessel to continue the dredging works handed over to MTCC by the government. The vessel will be leased for a period of six months, he said.
