Tourism ministry on Monday opened bidding for the development and operation of resorts in two islands in the northernmost Bodu Thiladhummathi region.

According to an announcement gazetted by the ministry on, the two islands opened for resort development are:

  • HA. Medhafushi

  • Sh. Nalandhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, during his recent campaign visit to Bodu Thiladhummathi, announced that bids would be opened for the development of resorts in the two islands.

HA. Medhafushi:

  • 11.74 hectares in size

  • The ministry has proposed to develop at least 120 beds

  • Land Acquisition Cost (LAC) of USD 875,000

  • USD 2 million required as proof financial capacity

Sh. Nalandhoo:

  • 63.99 hectares in size

  • The ministry has proposed to develop at least 200 beds

  • USD 1 million in LAC

  • USD 10 million required as proof financial capacity

Bid security is set atUSD 50,000.

Important dates of bidding:

  • Information session - August 30 via Zoom, at 11am

  • To attend the information meeting - email [email protected] before 12pm on August 29

  • Bid submission - September 21, at 10am

  • Clarification of information about the announcement - Email before 1pm on September 17
