Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) hosted the inaugural edition of the 'MATI Insight' on Tuesday aimed at sharing knowledge and expertise of industry stakeholders.
MATI Insight is a series of knowledge-sharing events aimed at disseminating expertise, best practices, and insights pertinent to various aspects of the Tourism Industry.
According to MATI, the thematic scope of the series is set to encompass Revenue, Sales and Marketing, Branding, Environmental Conservation and Protection, Human Capital Development, Technology and Innovation, and more.
The inaugural edition of MATI Insight was held on Tuesday in the capital Male with a networking session, followed by a series of presentations delivered by Trip.com Group, STR, Lighthouse (formerly OTA Insight), Lottiefiles. This was followed by a Q&A session and discussions among attendees.
Mr. Karan Mahesh, Senior Sales Manager for Central & South Asia of STR delivered a presentation titled “Maldives – Living the Dream,(?)” that provided an overview of the performance outlook for the hospitality sector of the Maldives’, viewed in a global context.
This was followed by a presentation titled “Maximising Profits in 2024: Spotlight on Maldives’ Tourism Trends” by Mr. Sachin Koshe, Senior Business Development Manager – Indian Subcontinent at Lighthouse (formerly OTA Insight) shedding light on emerging travel and booking trends as well as strategies for optimising profitability within the Maldives tourism sector.
Ms. Freda Shi, Area Manager for Maldives & Singapore at Trip.com Group then gave a presentation titled “Enabling hotels to embrace the future of travel – How to get more than fair share in China” that offered an overview of emerging travel trends, traveller behaviour, booking patterns and strategies to enhance and capture demand from China.
Lastly Mr. Mahfooz Ali, Lottie Studio Lead, and Ms. Mariyam Lubaba Mohamed, Content Marketer at Lottiefiles, delved into the value of incorporating motion designs in marketing collaterals to enhance brand visibility and engagement in their presentation titled “Why Motion for Businesses?”
The event concluded with a closing statement, by Mr. Ahmed Nazeer, the Secretary General of MATI, followed by a networking lunch.
