Managing directors appointed to 21 state companies

Managing Directors of 21 state-owned companies have been appointed, the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) said Tuesday.

PCB President Hamdi Ageel told Atoll Times that the nominations made by President Mohamed Muizzu have been reviewed and are now being appointed to the companies.

"The board has now appointed the MDs of 21 companies," Hamdi said, adding that the names of the managing directors would be announced in a press release later.

The companies that have so far announced new managing director appointments are:

  • STELCO - Hussain Fahmy, who was a general manager at the company

  • STO - The company's board member Shimad Ibrahim

  • Urbanco - Felidhoo MP Mohamed Fazul Rasheed

  • Aasandha - Aminath Zeeniya, who was a general manager at the company

Other appointments include:

  • Fenaka - Former Madaveli MP Muaz Mohamed Rasheed

  • MACL - Former Customs Commissioner Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed

  • MPL - Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim

  • Maldive Gas - Abdulla Mohamed

  • MTCC - Ziyad Latheef

  • FSM - Ismil Shuhail

  • MIFCO - Former Male city councillor Ahmed Shamah Rasheed

  • MWSC - Abdul Matheen Mohammed

  • Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation - Hamdan Shakeel

  • Regional Airports - Former Bileiydhoo MP Ahmed Mubeen

  • WAMCO - Male city council's secretary general Mujthaba Jaleel

  • PSM - Former Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) Member Zeena Zahir

  • MMPRC - Coco Collection's Director of Sales Aishath Shuhaila

  • RDC - Former Brigadier General Ali Zuhair

  • Hajj Corporation - Former PPM secretary general Mohamed Shakeel

  • Fund Management Corporation - Former National Centre for the Arts (NCA) chief Ahmed Nazim

  • SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) - Fathimath Taufeeq

In addition, PPM spokesperson Heena Waleed has been appointed as the CEO of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).
