Ready for Maldives inaugural bunkering service, MPL says

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) CEO Mohamed Wajeed has said that all necessary preparations have been completed to start offshore bunkering in Ihavandippolhu.
In a Facebook post, Wajeed said:

Two bunkers, a tug boat and a pilot boat have now been brought to Ihavandippolhu

The International Ship and Port Security Gate (ISPS Gate), a requirement for bunkering services, has also been installed
Describing bunkering as a service that will bring about revolutionary changes in the country's economy, Wajeeh said it should be done in the country but has not been done so far.
With the bunkering service, he said, 14 more services will be provided to international customers. It will provide income opportunities for government companies, private companies and individuals, he said. In addition:

A website called Northern Maritime Services has been set up to clarify the other maritime services the area is prepared to provide along with the bunkering service

The second phase of the bunkering project will include the installation of oil terminals and oil tanks
STO and MPL have decided to start bunkering services in Maldives this month. The two vessels, 'Marine Angel' and 'Marine Bella', are now in Ihavandippolhu.
Maldives will initially launch e-floating bunkering services. The service will be launched using two barges with a capacity of about 4,000 tonnes.
STO signed an MoU with Vitol, the world's largest private energy company, on March 13 to implement an international bunkering project in Ihavandippolhu.
