A three-year-old girl was injured in a traffic accident Thursday afternoon in Malé when she was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road on a zebra crossing.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30pm near Villa Mart, Majeedhee Magu.
According to a police statement, the young girl was hit by the motorcycle as she crossed the road, causing her to fall and hit her forehead.
The impact left her with a swollen forehead, and she was immediately rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for medical attention.
The extent of her injuries is still unknown, but no life-threatening condition has been reported at this time.
The police confirmed that the man riding the motorcycle had a valid driver's license. They are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine whether any further action is required.
