Maldives bans vape from Nov 15
President Muizzu has directed relevant authorities to ensure these restrictions are enforced effectively.
President Mohamed Muizzu on Monday announced a ban on the importation and use of vaping products in the Maldives.
The ban will come into effect in two stages, starting in November.
According to a statement made by President Muizzu on X, the importation of vaping devices and their individual components will be prohibited from November 15.
Further measures will be implemented from December 15, when the use, possession, manufacture, sale, advertising, and free distribution of vaping products will be banned across the Maldives.
President Muizzu has directed relevant authorities to ensure these restrictions are enforced effectively.
The announcement is expected to impact various stakeholders, including businesses involved in the sale and distribution of vaping products, as well as individuals who use such devices. The government has not yet provided details on penalties or enforcement mechanisms related to the ban.
This move marks a shift in the Maldives’ approach to the regulation of vaping products, aligning with global trends towards stricter control of such items.
