Judge Aishath Azfa Abdul Ghafoor issued the ruling in absentia as Fenaka Corporation did not respond to the opportunity to present its case. The judge ordered Fenaka to settle the payment within 15 days.
Fenaka Corporation’s total debt is reported to be approximately MVR 4 billion. Efforts to address the company’s financial difficulties included a plan to transfer its operations to the State Trading Organisation (STO), but the decision was later reversed.
Multiple debt-related cases against Fenaka are currently pending in the Civil Court. These include agreements made during the administrations of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and former President Abdulla Yameen.
