Passport of former STELCO Managing Director Ahmed Shareef has been seized in connection with an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC is currently examining a case involving Shareef’s alleged role in signing a $7 million compensation agreement between STELCO and a Chinese company. The commission has not disclosed whether the travel restriction and passport seizure are directly linked to this case.
The investigation focuses on the agreement, which included a $7.8 million compensation payment to the Chinese company during the final days of the previous government.
Additionally, the ACC is conducting inquiries into other corruption allegations involving Shareef and the former Managing Director of Fenaka. Further details on the status of these investigations have not been released.
