Abdul Raheem met Birla as part of his visit, which began Monday and will continue until Friday.
India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Tuesday assured the Maldives parliament of India's support in digitising its parliamentary resources.
This commitment came during a meeting with Maldives Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, who is currently on an official visit to India.
Abdul Raheem met Birla Tuesday as part of his visit, which began Monday and will continue until Friday.
Following their discussion, Birla shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the Maldivian speaker had expressed admiration for how artificial intelligence (AI) is being utilised within the Indian legislative framework.
"He asked for assistance in digitisig the resources of the Maldives legislature. I assured him of this cooperation in every way," Birla stated.
Beyond digitisation, Birla also pledged the support of Lok Sabha Pride, India's premier legislative training facility, to provide training for members and staff of the Maldives parliament. This initiative aims to enhance parliamentary procedures and governance through knowledge sharing and skill development.
Abdul Raheem’s visit to India comes at the invitation of both the speaker of the Lok Sabha and the chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
