Chief Justice highlights judiciary’s commitment to impartiality
The Chief Justice emphasised that judges have been making effective use of the limited resources available.
Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan said on Tuesday that the 182 judges in the Maldives are committed to fulfilling their responsibilities with integrity.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the Islamic Centre to mark the new judicial year, the Chief Justice emphasised that judges have been making effective use of the limited resources available. The event, attended by President Mohamed Muizzu, brought together judges and court staff in a common forum.
The Chief Justice noted that judges continue to work within the available resources to uphold a judiciary that is fair, reliable, and free from bias. He highlighted that the work of the judiciary is reflected in the verdicts issued by the 194 courts operating across the country.
“Despite challenges such as limited space and resources, judges remain engaged in their duties, contributing to the country’s future and maintaining stability,” he said.
He further stated that delivering impartial verdicts requires wisdom and caution.
“The judiciary is tasked with making decisions without fear or hesitation, even when those decisions are difficult or unpopular,” he added.
