The government has introduced an additional allowance for employees required to work in offices during the last 10 days of Ramadan.
The Pay Commission on Thursday gazetted amendments to the state pay framework, outlining the new allowances applicable to employees providing essential services during this period.
Under the amendments, effective from today until the end of Ramadan:
-
Employees required to work will receive an attendance allowance.
-
The last 10 days of Ramadan will be considered public holidays, with employees receiving half of their daily allowance as an additional payment.
-
Overtime for these 10 days will be calculated as public holidays, entitling employees to full overtime pay instead of the current 10% rate.
-
Employees under the pay framework who are not required to be physically present at the office will still receive the attendance allowance for the last 10 days of Ramadan, excluding Fridays and Saturdays.
As per President Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment, government offices will remain officially closed during this period, with only essential services in operation.
An additional official holiday has also been designated. Following the last 10 days of Ramadan and Eid holidays, government offices will reopen on 6 April.
