
STELCO reports hike in electricity use on last Ramadan day
The government has implemented a 10% discount on electricity and water bills for the month of Ramadan.
The State Electric Company (STELCO) has reported an increase in electricity consumption in Malé on the last day of Ramadan.
In a post on 'X', STELCO shared data showing electricity usage at different times of the day until 11 pm. The company stated that electricity consumption during peak hours on Saturday was higher compared to the previous day, reaching nearly 104 MW.
The highest power consumption was recorded between 2 pm and 4 pm. The breakdown of consumption levels on Saturday is as follows:

By 12 pm., 89,567 MW was consumed.

Between 6 am. and 11 am, consumption fluctuated between 72,384 MW and 94,902 MW.

The highest increase was between 2 pm and 4 pm, reaching between 101,818 MW and 103,801 MW.

Between 5 pm and 7 pm, consumption dropped to 93,833 MW.

Between 9 pm and 11 pm, power consumption rose again to nearly 103 MW.
According to STELCO, electricity consumption on the first day of Ramadan was lower than in previous years, with peak-hour consumption recorded at 78 MW. The average consumption during peak hours before Ramadan is typically 100 MW.
