
2 arrested after assault of child at Hulhumalé physio clinic
They were remanded in custody for 15 days following a court decision.
Police have arrested two Indian nationals in connection with an alleged assault on a child at a physiotherapy clinic in Hulhumalé.
The incident took place on 5 May at a clinic in the Hulhumalé area.
The Maldives Police Service confirmed the arrest of two suspects: Rajeshwari Sivakumar and Isha Antoinette. They were remanded in custody for 15 days following a court decision.
The case is under investigation.
Following the incident, three employees of the clinic were dismissed, and the clinic has been temporarily closed.
Footage circulating on social media appears to show an employee chasing a child with a knife. The video also shows the child attempting to flee, with another child seated nearby. An image also shared online appears to show an injury on the child’s hand reportedly sustained during the incident.
