
Maldives Hajj pilgrims to begin departure on 26 May
This year, the Maldives has been allocated a quota of 1,000 pilgrims.
The departure of Maldivian pilgrims for this year’s Hajj is scheduled to begin on 26 May, according to relevant authorities.
The Hajj Mission and the advance team from the Hajj Corporation departed for Mecca on Friday to assist with logistical arrangements and provide support to the pilgrims upon their arrival.
This year, the Maldives has been allocated a quota of 1,000 pilgrims. Among them are 50 individuals sponsored by the government under its assistance programme.
The pilgrims will travel to Mecca on four separate flights, two operated by Saudia and two by Maldivian. The final group is scheduled to depart on 30 May.
According to the Islamic calendar, Hajj is expected to take place on 5 June.
