Police have filed a case with the Prosecutor General’s Office seeking charges against a man accused of robbing a shop near the Machchangolhi cemetery in Malé.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Fawaz Kalhuthuthu, 36, of H. Redan, allegedly entered the shop and threatened the shopkeeper with a knife before carrying out the robbery. The incident occurred on the 1st of last month.
Fawaz was arrested on 12 May under a court warrant related to the case. He was later brought before the court, which ordered him to remain in custody until further notice.
