The Ministry of Health has reported an increase in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, according to a media official from the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

The rise in cases in the Maldives follows similar trends observed in Thailand, Singapore and other countries in the region.

While specific case numbers were not disclosed, the official on Thursday confirmed a slight increase in reported infections. In addition to COVID-19, other seasonal illnesses such as dengue, viral fever, and influenza are also on the rise.

These illnesses are commonly seen during this period each year, the official noted.

The Ministry of Health stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates to the public as new information becomes available.
