
Maldives VP's flight diverted after bomb threat
Vice President Latheef had travelled to Hawaii on the invitation of the Blue Planet Alliance.
A United Airlines flight carrying Maldives Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef was turned back to Honolulu, Hawaii, following a bomb threat discovered on board.
According to international media reports, United Flight 1169, which was en route from Honolulu to Los Angeles on Tuesday, was diverted after a message was found in a toilet mirror. The Vice President was reported to be on the flight, which was carrying 339 passengers and 10 crew members.
United Airlines stated that the Boeing 777 returned to Honolulu as a precaution after the discovery of the note. The aircraft made an emergency landing without further incident.

The FBI has launched an investigation into the incident. The Maldivian government has not issued an official statement regarding the matter.
