A woman was injured after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing a road in Hulhumale on Saturday.
According to Maldives Police Service, the accident was reported at 2:16 p.m. and occurred on Phase 1 Garden Road. The motorcycle was travelling in a north-to-south direction at the time of the incident.
Police confirmed that the motorcycle was being operated by a Bangladeshi national who does not hold a valid driving licence.
The pedestrian injured in the accident is a 59-year-old woman. She is currently receiving treatment at Hulhumale Hospital. Police stated that her injuries are not life-threatening.
The motorcycle involved in the incident has been towed. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
