President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated on Monday that the outcomes of his efforts to engage directly with the public will be seen in the near future.
He made the remarks during a visit to N. Henbadhoo, his second stop in Noonu Atoll as part of his current tour. Speaking with residents of the island, the President assured that development projects would be carried out based on the requests made by the local community.
According to the President, the government is currently in the process of signing the sixth phase of development projects. He said some of these projects would commence during his visits to the islands, while others, particularly smaller-scale projects in islands, may be deferred to next year.
President Muizzu stated that this year and the following year have been allocated for the implementation of structural development pledges made by his administration. He added that work is progressing in stages and that each phase involves projects tailored to specific localities.
Regarding Henbadhoo, the President said the island’s dredging project has been included in the current year's plan. Once the final design is completed, the government aims to hand over the project by September, with work scheduled to begin in November.
He noted that approximately six hectares of land remain to be dredged in Henbadhoo. The reclaimed land will be used for infrastructure development, including housing.
The President reiterated that his aim is to maintain close contact with the public and provide services in line with their needs. He expressed confidence that the results of this approach would reflect the expectations of the people.
