President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that differences with island councillors or others will not deter the government from carrying out its work.
Speaking during a visit to Kudafari on Tuesdsay, President Muizzu noted that certain requests from residents have not been fulfilled due to a lack of cooperation from the island council. The Kudafari Council is composed primarily of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) members, with one independently elected councillor.
The President said that political differences should not prevent the government from delivering services. He added that the government will continue its efforts regardless of non-cooperation from local councils or individuals who hold differing views.
“I am meeting directly with the people because I want to hear their views firsthand,” he said
President Muizzu stated that he would continue to engage with communities directly, leaving political disputes to the elected councillors. He said this approach would also apply to efforts to bring development to Kudafari.
