A motorcycle driver has been arrested following a road accident in Laamu Atoll Kaddhoo that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
Police said the incident occurred when a motorcycle was travelling from Funadhoo to Gan and struck a woman who was crossing the road towards Kaddhoo Airport.
The victim was identified as 64-year-old Mariyam Moosa. She was taken to Laamu Gan Hospital after the accident last night but later died from her injuries.
Police confirmed the arrest of 37-year-old Mohamed Nausaan of Hoaravilla, Laamu Fonadhoo, who was driving the motorcycle.
He has been remanded in custody for 15 days.
