A motorcycle travelling north on Hithigas Magu in Hulhumale’ Phase 2 collided with a child who was crossing the road Wednesday morning, according to police.
Police said the child suddenly crossed the road in front of the motorcycle, causing the rider to lose control and crash.
The child was not hit by the motorcycle.
However, the motorcycle rider and passenger sustained serious injuries in the crash. Police officers attended the scene, while the rider later left the area.
Police are investigating the incident.
The accident occurred a day after a nine-year-old girl died while receiving treatment on a ventilator after sustaining injuries in a road accident in Hulhumale’ on Saturday night.
