Hulhumalé Police have begun towing vehicles that are parked illegally on public roads and pedestrian paths.
In a public notice on Sunday, the Hulhumalé Traffic Police stated that vehicles parked in violation of traffic regulations, including those parked on road safety markings such as pedestrian crossings, will be subject to removal.
The police further stated that any vehicle obstructing the flow of traffic will also be towed.
Authorities have increased on-site enforcement in recent weeks as part of efforts to ease pedestrian movement in the city. The removal of illegally parked vehicles has been ongoing since last month.
