Fenaka Corporation has announced that a permanent solution will be implemented to address the power supply issues in Addu.
Addu has faced inadequate electricity supply and repeated outages in recent months, prompting criticism from residents. Fenaka stated, however, that the most recent outage was not due to a technical fault.
According to the company, power was disrupted on Friday night in connected islands after an individual attempted to damage a substation cable, causing the main engine to shut down. The person involved is reported to be receiving treatment for electric shock.
Fenaka said such actions not only damage company property but also endanger lives and cause difficulties for the public. “Therefore, we urge people not to engage in such practices,” the company said in a statement.
