The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has announced that it expects to begin handing over the keys to recipients of the 4,000 flats being developed in Hulhumalé this week.
An FDC official told Atoll Times on Monday that preparations are under way to start the handover process within the week. Agreements are currently being signed with recipients by two Indian companies contracted to build the flats. To date, FDC has signed agreements with more than 3,000 recipients.
The flats are being allocated in the order of completion, with residents scheduled to move in once internal works are finalised. The government had earlier stated that occupation would begin this month.
FDC has set the following rent and maintenance charges for the flats:

Two-bedroom apartments: MVR 7,000 rent and MVR 1,000 maintenance per month, with a down payment of MVR 15,000.
-
Three-bedroom apartments: MVR 9,000 rent and MVR 1,500 maintenance per month, with a down payment of MVR 25,000.
