Zammath elected vice-president of new media commission
Zammath won the vote against former Media Council President Hussain Saqeef.

Former journalist and former member of the now-dissolved Broadcasting Commission, Zammath Waheed, has been elected Vice-President of the newly established Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission.
Under the Commission Act, the President of the Commission is appointed by Parliament, while the Vice-President is selected through an internal vote among the members. The election for the Vice-President took place during the Commission’s meeting on Tuesday.
Commission Chairman Mohamed Farsath confirmed to Atoll Times that Zammath was elected Vice-President at the meeting.
Zammath won the vote against former Media Council President Hussain Saqeef. The results were as follows:

Zammath Waheed: 4 votes

Hussain Saqeef: 3 votes
Zammath, who previously worked at VTV, and Sageef were appointed to the Commission two of the four members representing the media. All four representatives from the media sector were selected to their posts without a formal election.
