Former Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) Chairman Hamdhy Ageel has been appointed Secretary General of the Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission.
Ageel, who was removed from the PCB and its chairmanship in February, has now been selected for the administrative post at the newly formed commission, which was established under the Media Act to regulate the media sector. The appointment was confirmed by the commission on Saturday.
The position carries a monthly salary of MVR 35,000, as announced last month. Applicants were required to hold a degree in media or have a minimum of five years’ experience in the field.
Before his tenure at the PCB, Ageel served as the Managing Director of Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM).
